Noble’s Government Affairs team held their second installment of Noble’s Parent Leadership Series (PLS). This four part training series is aimed to develop and empower parents to be leaders in their student’s school and community. These workshops provide parents with the skills they need to be a parent leader at their campus and highlight the way that parents are able to become advocates for Noble. This month, PLS was hosted on three different nights in both English and Spanish at Chicago Bulls College Prep, Gary Comer College Prep and Golder College Prep. Each night parents were greeted by student volunteers who offered them food from various local minority owned restaurants.

Over 65 Parents had the opportunity to fellowship with Noble parents from across the network. The theme of this evening was “The Power of Your Story”. Through two different sessions, parents learned the power in their own story. One session, “Crafting Your Personal Story” equipped parents with the tools to craft their personal story in order to influence stakeholders. The other session, “Media as a Storyteller” discussed the ways in which media can be utilized to broaden the reach of their story and deepen the influence. At Noble we understand and honor that parents are our students’ first teachers. We cannot advocate on behalf of our students without first partnering with their parents. Our parents have strong voices and we hope through the Parent Leadership Series they can be amplified.

At Noble, we are college bound. As the largest charter public school network in Chicago, Noble’s high school program exposes our students to higher education options and guides them through the collegiate application process. Through college trips, college fairs, summer college immersion programs and required academic courses, Noble demystifies the college experience and shapes students’ beliefs and confidence about higher education.
