Chicago Magazine has published their 2019 rankings of top public high schools in Chicago, recognizing thirteen Noble high schools in the top 40, including the #2 overall high school, Noble’s Pritzker College Prep. Just like all Noble schools, Pritzker is an open enrollment high school for any CPS student. Noble schools are ranked above more widely recognized schools such as Walter Payton, Whitney Young, Jones, and Lane Tech which require strenuous test-in admissions standards. In contrast, Noble’s nonprofit charter public schools are open to all students in the city of Chicago.
“I’m pleased to see our students’ and teachers’ hard work being recognized, but what matters most is the opportunity these rankings represent,” said Noble’s CEO Constance Jones. “We welcome new students wherever they are academically and after their time with us nearly 90% matriculate to colleges and universities. We love and value all students, and their collective success will have a transformative impact on Chicago.”
Chicago Magazine based their rankings on several criteria, including SAT attainment percentages, teacher/student surveys, attendance, and graduation rates.
“We’re incredibly proud of the work our students, staff and families do together that leads to these high rankings” said Carrie Spitz, Principal of Pritzker College Prep. “We know our school community is more than any one ranking but it is excellent to see the work we do recognized in this way.”
Chicago Magazine’s high ratings of Noble echo similar lists from other publications. Earlier this month, Niche, a national research company who analyzes data provided by the U.S. Department of Education to create ratings for schools, issued their rankings for the 2020 Best Charter High Schools in Illinois. High schools from within the Noble network captured 14 of the top 20 spots, and all 17 of Noble’s high schools made the top 30. Ranking factors included standardized test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, and teacher quality.
Illinois’ top-rated charter school by Niche is Noble Street College Prep. Principal Ben Gunty added, “This recognition is a great reminder to our Noble family of why we do what we do. Noble Street College Prep is a collection of people – not just a building – we’re a group of 670 eager students, 40 dedicated teachers, and an irreplaceable staff who work to empower students with excellent learning and meaningful experiences every day.”
“My daughter is living proof of Noble Bulls College Prep’s success in getting students ready for college and beyond,” said parent Monica Atkins from Chicago’s South side. “I’m grateful for the high expectations and love the teachers have shown to her since the first day of freshman year.” Bulls College Prep was ranked #17 overall by Chicago Magazine this year and #2 in charter schools by Niche.
“I consider Noble Mansueto to be the best high school choice for my daughter, and it happens to be in the neighborhood where we live,” said parent Rosalba Monarrez from Chicago’s southwest side. “She loves to go to school because she’s challenged. Graduation and college are certainties for her, and I’m so grateful that our family has been given this opportunity.” Mansueto was ranked #6 in the Niche charter school rankings this year.
Roughly 12,000 students enrolled at Noble for the 2019-2020 school year joining more than 14,000 alumni who have already graduated from Noble schools in the last 16 years.
