Dean of Instruction of FAPE

About – Jackie Larry

She is a native of Chicago, IL. She grew up on the cities Southside, first in Roseland and later moving to Calumet Heights. She is a graduate of Whitney Young Magnet HS. She holds degrees in Music and Music Education from the University of St. Francis and VanderCook college of Music, respectively. Her favorite high school memories include many of the choir performances, festivals, concerts and competitions that She engaged in. She found her place and her people in Choir. Her HS choir teacher was such an influence in her life and much of the reason why She decided to pursue a career in music education. She started at UICCP as the choir teacher, and much of her why is rooted in the wonderful experiences She had when She was in HS choir, and She wanted to be able to create a similar place of belonging for our Firecats. As her role as shifted to DOI of Electives (Fine Arts/PE) her motivation is still much of the same. She believes that students should have access to a well-rounded, holistic, transformative educational experience and that they deserve to find their place and their people at UICCP. This year She is looking forward to seeing the Fine Arts and PE departments expand and grow into these places of belonging and joy.
