Welcome to the ITW David Speer Academy, a Level 1+ STEM School, which opened in 2014. Speer Academy offers a STEM-focused education that will expose our “innovators”, as our students are known, to a variety of math, science, technology and engineering careers through our partnership with Illinois Tool Works. We began our founding year serving the freshmen in the graduating class of 2018. Our students are benefiting from a beautiful, brand new facility located at 5321 W. Grand Avenue that will support a full array of academic programs and enrichment opportunities including the first football and soccer fields among Noble’s network of schools.

Our campus is named in memory of David B. Speer, the former Chairman of Illinios Tool Works (ITW), who served the company for 33 years at the time of his passing in 2012.  Mr. Speer’s long career with ITW gave him a deep understanding of the business operations and the operating philosophy and culture of the company. Mr. Speer also served as a  Director of Rockwell Automation, Inc. and a Director of Deere & Company in addition to serving on the Board of Directors for ITW.

Current ITW Chairman and CEO E. Scott Santi carries on Mr. Speer’s philanthropic legacy. Speer Academy will continue the Noble tradition of preparing students with the scholarship, discipline, and honor necessary to succeed in college. To prepare the future innovators, Speer Academy is providing a world-class STEM curriculum and internships to 100% of its students, becoming a place in the city of Chicago where students can be exposed to and explore in depth the diverse engineering fields and careers. In addition, Speer Academy will infuse its curriculum with cutting edge technology to make sure every student has the opportunity to excel. Speer Academy will offer a range of athletic facilities, including full-size football field, basketball court and state-of-the-art weight room. Students will have many opportunities to participate in a full range of extracurricular sports, clubs, and activities.
