Noble Graduation 2021: Frequently Asked Questions
1. How has graduation changed?
Noble Network Senior Graduation will take place on June 11th and 12th, 2021, at Mansueto High School and ITW David Speer Academy. Each graduating class will be divided into groups for a series of short, indoor ceremonies during the campus window. Please note the Noble Graduation 2021 Campus Schedule has been slightly adjusted, but your graduation will not change date (a very limited number of campuses are being asked to change location.)
2. Will graduation change again when the health and safety guidelines change on June 11?
On June 3, Mayor Lightfoot announced that Chicago will gradually reopen on June 11 and more to a full reopening by July 4. Please go here to read more about the city’s reopening plan.
3. How many tickets do we get?
Three guests is the maximum we can allow to maintain health and safety standards set by the city for indoor spectator events.
4. How do I get tickets?
Tickets can be accessed on Eventbrite. The graduate ID number will be required to sign up for three tickets. Tickers are free. Graduates do not need tickets.
5. Does a child under 2 count for the tickets?
Yes, even a child that will be on a lap will require a ticket. The maximum capacity is based on the number of people in the room, not the number of people in seats.
6. What if someone is not using their three tickets?
Graduates may not give their tickets to other students. Seating will remain in groups of 3 and should be used for single family ‘pods’ to maintain health and safety guidelines.
7. Will the event be live streamed?
Yes, each event will be shared live on Facebook.
8. What time should I arrive at graduation?
Graduates will be assigned a “graduation cycle” during the long window of campus graduation. Your campus leadership team will communicate your specific start time. Please arrive at least 15-30 minutes prior to the start time of your individual graduation cycle to allow ample time to find parking and check in.
9. Where should I park at MHS or Speer?
MHS: Parking is available at three (3) on-campus locations, as follows:
In parking spaces along the MHS back fence, accessible from California and 47th Place.
In the parking lot behind the MHS field, accessible from 47th St, just west of California. Please note that the parking spots closest to the school on the MHS driveway will be reserved for those requiring ADA-accessible parking.
In the parking lot behind the MHS gymnasium, accessible from 47th St and Richmond St.
Speer: The majority of parking will be located in the parking lot at Charles A. Prosser Career Academy, accessible from Grand Ave, just west of Speer. Please plan to park in the southeast corner of the Prosser parking lot. In addition, ADA-accessible parking and entrance will be available at the Speer Academy parking lot, accessible from Lockwood St off of Grand Ave.
10. Why can each grad only bring three guests to the diploma ceremony?
Three guests will allow us to maintain safe and timely transitions between ceremonies and maintain an intimate event for the graduates and families.
11. What is the dress code?
There is no dress code at graduation. Graduates should come in their cap and gown (including tassel) and wear shoes that allow them to easily cross the stage and walk up/down stairs.
12. Why are we graduating in small groups?
The graduation groups are designed to honor the health and safety guidelines set by the city for indoor spectator events.
13. Why can’t the event be outdoors?
We believe that our ability to control the weather indoors will create a nicer atmosphere for the graduation event. Our facilities are not equipped with materials to host an event outside, and given the quick pivot to a traditional ceremony, we are not able to secure all we would need to create a great outdoor event.
14. What kind of health and safety guidelines will be in place?
All attendees, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear masks during the entire event. Additionally, we will screen temperatures as people enter, and provide socially distant seating and air purifiers.
15. What if a student or family is not comfortable attending?
Graduates are not required to attend the ceremony. Students can arrange to pick up their diploma after the event and may choose to attend additional campus events.
16. Will photographers be present?
Yes, photographers will be set up outside (under tents) to take photos after the event, and free digital downloads will be available.
17. Is this venue handicapped accessible, if so where do we park, which doors do we enter through and where is seating?
The venues are accessible. At Mansueto, we will have ADA – reserved parking next to the field. You can access this area off of 47th street, at the school entrance between California and Richmond Aves. From the ADA parking, it is a short paved path to the event entrance. The entrance and exit to the gymnasium will be the same for all guests, and there will be reserved accessible seating upon entrance to the gym. There will be wayfinding volunteers available onsite on the day of the event to assist further if needed!
At Speer, ADA reserved parking is located in the campus parking lot behind the gymnasium, accessible from Grand and Lockwood. The parking leads directly into the gymnasium where the ceremony will take place.
