Amit Khatkhate
Butler College Prep
After immigrating to the United States from India as an infant, Amit Khatkhate grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and later, Skokie, Illinois. After graduating from high school, he attended and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2007. After serving as an Army Officer for several years, Amit felt compelled to change fields and entered a space in which he would eventually have lasting purpose and passion. In 2013, he began his journey in education as an Indiana Teaching Fellow, teaching 7th Grade Math in Gary. In 2015, Amit transitioned to specializing in working with diverse learners, becoming a Learning Specialist at DRW College Prep. He eventually became DRW’s Case Manager, in 2021, and was able to facilitate student services on a greater scale. During his eight years at DRW, Amit led numerous enrichments, brought multiple programs to DRW, such as Urban Alliance & 100 Cameras, supported countless families, and taught hundreds of students. Most recently, Amit transitioned from the West Side to the South Side, where he has continued to make an impact in student services at Butler College Prep. He looks forward to continuing to serve alongside students, families, and fellow educators for years to come.
