DRW College Prep

Welcome to DRW!

At DRW, we live our G.R.I.T. values of Growth, Reflection, Integrity, and Teamwork as we prepare our scholars for success in college and beyond. DRW scholars engage in a rigorous academic program, spend more time in class than typical high school students, and act with honor and respect as they pursue the dream of college success.

DRW College Prep’s Remote Office Hours are from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Dear DRW Families & Scholars,

As you have heard today, April 17th, 2020, Governor Pritzker has officially closed schools in Illinois for the remainder of the year. In the midst of this unprecedented crisis, I continue to be inspired by the compassion, creativity, resilience, and empathy of our Noble community. My heart is especially full of gratitude for those of you who work in essential industries on the frontline. Thank you for your continued service.

The sudden change to our daily school schedule has brought new challenges for all of us and I’m so grateful that Noble has the heart and resources to ship Chromebooks to our Cheetahs in need. Now that many of our Cheetahs who needed technology have it or it has been shipped (be patient, shipping can take 7-10 days), I am writing today with details on our remote learning plan at DRW College Prep that will begin next week.

Remote Learning Plan

We want to make sure students continue to learn and get the support they need from teachers and advisors since the remainder of the year will remain remote. We care about you and we all know that our children do not have time or learning to waste. Starting Monday, April 20th, DRW is launching a remote learning website for students. Click here to check it out! This site puts everything in one place so that students can easily access work and submit their assignments.

Every Friday, teachers will post new assignments on Google Classroom for the upcoming week. We recommend that students spend about 4 and ½ hours each day at school. Each day, they should be completing assignments from teachers, reading, exercising, working on long term projects, doing skills practice, and enriching themselves in a variety of other ways. Learning is so important as students prepare for college and their dream careers, and their grades will only improve.

Family & Student Communication Plan

As in previous weeks, families & scholars can expect to hear from me every Wednesday and Friday. This communication, via BrightArrow & email, will include any updates from our network, COVID-19 updates, DRW updates, and remote learning at DRW.

Other Things to Note:

  • Food and Well-Being – Noble is providing meals for all families free of charge at DRW College Prep other Noble campuses. You can find more information on community resources here.
  • Internet and Device Access – Contact your child’s advisor if you do not have internet or access to a computer/tablet by today. Cell phones are not suited for remote learning. This is not a guarantee;  we are working hard to deliver devices to all students who need them.
  • Prom & Graduation – Senior families should expect to hear from us very shortly about DRW plans for the end of year senior events. We’ve been in conversation with our venues for weeks and now that school is officially closed per Governor Pritzker, we can finalize plans for our scholars and about graduation, prom, and fees/tickets that were paid. We will be in touch soon.
  • Emails: Please contact your child’s adviser as soon as possible to update your contact information with us or email the main office at drwmainoffice@drwtcollegeprep.org. We’ve worked hard and call our families.
  • Food: Food distribution at DRW College Prep from 8 AM – 11 AM, Monday – Friday. For more information about our food distribution, internet/technology, Healthcare Resources, Housing, and mental health. Please see the flyer
  • 8th-Graders & 8th-Graders Families, offers are available now! You’ve until April 22nd to accept your seat at GoCPS.edu. If you need assistance, please email us or contact our school.

You can come in, pick up any school work you didn’t get on Friday, belongings from lockers, and food if you like. Once you have what you need, scholars will be escorted out. Attendance is optional; but if you don’t have your work, we suggest you come and get it on Monday. The building will be closed to all staff and students at 11 am until school reopens.
  • 3/17 -4/21: No School! As you just heard from Mayor Lightfoot, Chicago Public Schools, including Noble, will not reopen until April 21st at the earliest. This is disheartening news, but it is the right decision for the City of Chicago and for the safety of our students, families, and staff. Sports Fee: We are proud to be able to offer an athletic program to our Cheetahs at DRW. As the winter season approaches, we want all of our families to know that there is a $35 fee per sport at DRW. This fee must be paid to participate in any sport at DRW this school year. The fee helps with some of our costs like equipment, uniforms, supplies, and game fees. Questions, see Mr. Ford, our Athletic Director. To pay, see Mr. Aviles, our Office Manager today!
