Carrie Spitz

Chief People Officer

About – Carrie Spitz

Carrie began her career in education with Teach for America, where her first placement was as a high school Spanish teacher in West Englewood. After earning her Master’s Degree in Teaching, she joined Pritzker College Prep in 2007, during its second year of operation. Inspired by the opportunity to build a school from the ground-up, over the years, she steadily took on greater levels of responsibility at Pritzker, culminating in her becoming the principal of Pritzker College Prep for nearly a decade. During her time at Noble, Carrie has been a finalist for Teach for America’s Chicago Alumni Distinguished Teacher Award, completed KIPP’s Summer Leadership Program, earned a post-master’s degree in Educational Administration & Supervision, and was named INCS Principal of the Year in 2023. It is this unwavering commitment to Noble over the past 17 years, along with Carrie’s nearly unparalleled experience in one of Noble’s schools that inspired her to work for the People Team at Noble; she was excited to continue to serve the broader Noble community and ensure that we are not just the best place to attend, but also the best place to work. As of July, 2024, Carrie has officially stepped into the role of Noble’s Chief People Officer and is thrilled to continue to journey of proving what is possible for the children of Chicago through this new seat at Noble.

Why do you work at Noble?

We never rest on our laurels and we continue reflect and redo until we get closer and closer to our vision of excellence at every layer of our work. I also love working somewhere that cares as much about our goals and metrics as the people that work here.

Who was your favorite teacher while growing up?

Ms Mosel- she was not my favorite teacher in the moment. She was in retrospect. She was fair, consistent, and continued to inspire and deliver on her support to me as I went into my own schooling to become a High School Spanish Teacher. She was my first dose of love and high expectations personified and a great teacher to learn from over my years as a student (in highschool) and as an adult learning how to teach!

Favorite thing about Noble or favorite Noble moment?

My favorite thing about Noble is that we really mean what we say. We are student centered. Our core values are alive within our work and not just something we put on paper. We choose to believe in possibilities that in many cases haven’t been proven yet; and then we set out to do the work to make it true.

What do you/your department do at Noble?

The Chief People Officer oversees and supports the development of our people systems, policies, and practice through supporting Noble’s Human Resources and Talent Teams. As the People Team lead, I am responsible for creating an environment at the broad organizational level that encourages new talent to join us, and current employees to be engaged in our work in productive, positive, and meaningful ways.  In this role, I oversee around 20 people that inspire and innovate to make Noble the best place to work through the following teams:

Human Resources
Including our Total Rewards, payroll, and guidance supporting the development and management of our people.

Talent Team
Inclusive of our systems, teams, and programs that we have established to recruit new talent to Noble and market Noble’s job offerings and openings on wider platforms.
