Joshua Williams

Noble Support Team

I’m a lifelong Chicagoan and south sider. I attended Whitney Young High School and studied Communications at UIC, and I played basketball for both. Straight out of college I went into sales and quickly learned it wasn’t for me. Always maintaining a connection with young people through sports and my time as a summer camp counselor, I pivoted to education.

My first job at CPS was an office assistant for Consuela B. York Alternative High School, located in Cook County Department of Corrections. My time at York highlighted the inequities and obstacles facing young black men and led to my personal mission to interrupt the school to prison pipeline. I would work for CPS for 8 years in a multitude of roles such as paraprofessional, substitute teacher and Dean of Students, before losing my position to budget cuts in 2014.

I joined UIC College Prep in the summer of 2014 as a Disciplinarian and that would be my home for the next 2 years. During this short tenure I grew more as an educator than in my previous 8 years, and I was named ADOC in my second year. However, I left UICCP in 2016 due to the existence of Noble’s then harsh and racist disciplinary policies and practices. I would spend the next 6 years as Dean of Culture for CICS Wrightwood. Post-pandemic I learned of Noble’s anti-racist commitment and decided to return. For 2 years I served as Baker’s DOC, before joining NST as the Director of Student Culture & Support in June 2024.

I’m a husband, father of 4, basketball and film enthusiast who enjoys walks in the park and being near/on a lake.
