About – Norma Gutierrez Castro

Norma Gutierrez Castro is a passionate Latinx educator that has been proudly serving communities in Chicago for 18 years. As a Mexican immigrant and the daughter of Mexican immigrants, she has spent her life using her personal and career experiences to support and empower others. While her focus is in the education field, her support and advocacy goes beyond the 4 walls of the buildings she works in.

She received her education at Knox College with a bachelor’s degree in Education and Spanish. She is a lifelong learner and has greatly benefited from being a part of the Golden Apple Foundation and Diverse Leaders Fellowship.

When Norma is not in a school building or working with students and families, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Norma especially enjoys spending time with her nieces and nephews who bring her enormous amounts of joy and optimism.
