About – Melanie Chwee
After getting a degree in math education from Illinois State University, she moved to Chicago and taught in high schools in Pilsen and West Garfield Park. She started working at UICCP as an in-house sub as a transition from being a classroom teacher. In 2021, she joined the College and Career Counseling Team as a counselor. She loves working more closely with students to help them take steps towards their future goals and prepare them for success after graduation. When not working, one of her favorite things to do is go on road trips. Her favorite destinations have been Atlanta, Nashville, Seattle, Niagara Falls, and Toronto. She highly recommends visiting the aquariums in Toronto and Atlanta! One goal that She continue to work towards is making sure that all of our students have the opportunity to explore their passions and talents. She is motivated by the belief that each student will be successful given the guidance to choose the path that matches their future goals and ambitions.
