About – Ali Werd
She is from Evanston, IL. She started tutoring as an undergraduate at a middle school in Madison, WI. She really loved working with students and decided to combine that love and her love for travel after college by teaching in South Korea for a year. After teaching in S. Korea, she moved to Mississippi and taught 9th and 10th grade ELA at Byhalia High School for two years. She missed Chicago, so moved back and started teaching US History at UICCP in 2014. Her favorite thing about teaching is talking about books with students and helping them find new titles and authors they love. This is her 9th year at UICCP and her 5th as a Dean of Instruction. In her free time, she like to read, exercise, cook new recipes, hang out with her puppy, Ruby, her husband and her friends. She love traveling and have visited 24 countries, including Portugal, Germany, and the Czech Republic with Firecats!
