About – August Davenport
August Davenport was born and raised in Englewood on the south side of Chicago. She currently serves as Manager of Admissions, successfully managing the student recruitment efforts for Hansberry College Prep, a member of the Noble Schools. While being in the Noble community, she has served in various roles. She is a strategic thinker and planner who knows the value of using communication to build and maintain strong relationships. August spent eight years teaching as an adjunct professor at Indiana University Northwest (IUN) teaching public speaking. Also, she created the first online public speaking course to be offered by IUN. At the age of 34 years old, and the single mother of two children, August graduated from Roosevelt University with a Master of Science Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. August transitioned to education in 2009 after working at Scudder Investments/Deutsche Bank for 11 years achieving the role of Assistant Vice President. She believes education is the key to success and opens the doors of opportunity. Everyone, no matter their background, is entitled to have access to a good education. She lives to develop diverse leaders who will come back to support their communities and become pillars in their neighborhoods as these are our leaders of tomorrow.
