About – Kameshia Ward
Kameshia K. Ward, affectionately known as Mama Ward on campus, is currently the Dean of College & Career Counseling at Hansberry College Prep, where she started as a teacher intern during the 2014 school year. Since then, she’s held school leadership positions such as IB Coordinator and grade-level lead and remains the Founding Theory of Knowledge instructor. Her loving, energetic, and joyful demeanor is life-giving and always on time. She approaches life with humility and a passion for integrity. To her, going above and beyond is simply operating in her calling. She chooses to lead by example and with intentionality.
Her Jamaican upbringing and immense faith are foundational to the spirit of excellence she applies to every situation. As a Howard University Alumna, Kameshia’s love, zeal, and value for black culture remain engraved in her DNA. Married for 15 years and a mother of 2 boys, her God-given family remains her most important treasure. She truly believes that every seed she sows will bear good fruit, and she is committed to sowing as much as she can into edifying black students, specifically to develop equitable outcomes for black males and empowering others to speak power to truth in every space they occupy.
