Meet Our Principal
Principal, Johnson College PrepMatthew Brown has been a member of the Johnson College Prep staff since its founding in 2010. Prior to taking over as Principal in July, 2015, Mr. Brown taught 9th grade reading and served four years as Johnson College Prep’s Assistant Principal. Before joining the Noble Network of Charter Schools in 2010, Mr. Brown spent 9 years as a history and English teacher, including stints at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School and The Eagle Academy for Young Men – both located in New York City – and KIPP: Heartwood Academy in San Jose, California. He also served as an instructional coach for the State of Montana, working to increase student achievement on the Fort Peck and Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservations. Mr. Brown earned his BA in American and African American History at Carleton College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, and later completed an MA in Teaching of Social Studies at Columbia University’s Teachers College.
