Hi Noble,
As we head into Spring Break, I want to share a few opportunities across the city for students to stay active, explore new interests, and take advantage of programs happening this week. Spring Break is a great time for students to discover new experiences, build skills, and spend time in community with others.
Here are some opportunities students may enjoy:
-
City of Chicago Teen Bash, taking place Saturday, March 28, from 12-4 pm at the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier. Hosted by the City of Chicago, this party will feature free special musical performances, free pizza, video games, giveaways, and much more. Students can register here.
-
Marwen’s Spring Break Workshops, which offer free art-making opportunities and experiments in drawing, fashion, printmaking, photography, and more. Students who want to develop their creativity and artistic skills during the break can learn more and register here.
-
After School Matters offers students a wide range of programs to learn new skills, work with talented community leaders and mentors, and earn money for participating. Interested students can learn more and apply here.
-
Chicago Youth Works (formerly One Summer Chicago) is now accepting applications for its summer employment program, giving students the opportunity to gain paid work experience, develop new tools for success, and make a difference in their communities. Students can learn more and apply here.
At Noble, preparing students for choice-filled lives means helping them access opportunities both inside and outside the classroom. I hope many of our students take advantage of these resources and continue learning, exploring, and growing during the break.
Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable Spring Break!
Much Love,
Brenda

MARCH TO THE POLLS RECAP
For weeks, Noble campuses and support teams have been putting in the work to get students registered and ready to vote. Earlier this month, it all came to life. 🗳️✨
Marching to the Polls brought high energy, real civic pride, and an unforgettable experience for our students in the heart of downtown Chicago’s Loop. Across two days, 1,000+ Noble students exercised their right to vote for the very first time. 🙌🏾🔥
A big thank you to Chicago Votes for partnering with us on this initiative 💙
We hope this moment inspires and empowers young people, and our broader community, to recognize the impact of their voice.

NOBLE HONORS MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Noble Music Competition took place last month at NEIU, bringing together bands, choirs, orchestras, and jazz, rock, and guitar ensembles from across Noble 🎶 Students were adjudicated by NEIU faculty and also participated in coaching sessions throughout the day.
Top performers in the Traditional category were Bulls Advanced Guitar Ensemble (1st), Butler Concert Band (2nd), and Rauner Concert Band (3rd). In the Non-Traditional category, winners included Pritzker Jazz Band (1st), Bulls Rock Band (2nd), and Baker Jazz Band (3rd) 🏆
The Noble Honors Music Festival followed this month. Selected student musicians spent the day in rehearsals and workshops with NEIU faculty and professional musicians, leading up to the Honors Ensemble Concert at NEIU Auditorium Hall 🎤 This is a great opportunity for student musicians to grow their skills and collaborate with peers from across the network.

BULLS COLLEGE PREP SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
We’re proud to recognize Chicago Bulls College Prep senior Mekhi Slaughter, who was nominated for Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year, an honor that celebrates young leaders making a meaningful impact in their communities. While he did not take home the overall title, his story and speech left a lasting impression. His words moved a donor to award him a $5,000 scholarship on the spot.
Mekhi also received tickets to see the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Sky, and Chicago Fire FC, tickets to Six Flags Great America, apparel from the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears, and an additional $1,000 scholarship.
Congratulations, Mekhi. Your hard work is paying off. 👏

NOBLE'S POLICY CORNER
Following this week's primary election, activity in Springfield has been relatively slow—but we expect momentum to build quickly in the coming weeks as legislative priorities take shape. This will be a critical window for us to stay engaged and ensure our voices are part of the conversation on several education bills.
One key opportunity ahead is Funding Illinois' Future Advocacy Day on March 26th, where advocates from across the state will gather to push for at least $550 million in funding for K–12 education through the Evidence-Based Funding formula and Mandated Categoricals (MCATs). We have a small group from Noble of parents, staff, and students who will be there advocating in a large coalition.
How you can engage (even during Spring Break):
We encourage everyone to find a way to plug in, whether on the ground or from afar. Your voice matters, and together we can help shape a stronger future for Illinois students.
