About – Sandra Montes
Sandra Montes is a bilingual, Latina therapist and the Director of Social Work at UICCP. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her education at Loyola University Chicago. She holds Professional Educator License in the state of IL (formerly Type 73) and is a certified alcohol and other drug counselor (CADC). Ms. Montes is also trained in EMDR. Sandra grew up in Chicago and Mexico. She has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings from inpatient units to a community mental health settings. Using a trauma-informed lens, Sandra has helped students with depression, anxiety, and stress management. Ms. Montes works at UICCP because she is a strong believer - and example- of positive multi-generational change (aka PMC). A daughter of immigrants and a "first gen", Ms. Montes believes in the potential of all of her students and their families. Ms. Montes provides clinical supervision to MSW graduate students at UICCP. She enjoys training, teaching and mentoring new social workers and social work students. Sandra enjoys running and has completed several half marathons.
