About – Emily Lockhart
Growing up in Chanhassen, Minnesota, Ms. Emily Lockhart learned the value of education through her parents, both teachers in their local school district. She graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Minors in Sociology and Political Science. Ms. Lockhart went on to join the Teach for America corps in St. Louis, where she taught 7th and 8th grade math at Fanning Middle School. In 2009, she moved to Chicago to become the founding Algebra teacher at Muchin College Prep. Over eight years, Ms. Lockhart taught and took on leadership as math department chair and Dean of Instruction. While at Muchin, she earned her Masters in Educational Leadership. Now as principal, she is grateful to work with our Muchin community to empower Chicago youth to overcome systemic inequity through life-altering education. Ms. Lockhart believes that “the determination, hard work, and resilience of our scholars, alumni, and staff is a constant source of inspiration.” Go Mountain Lions!
